Sales jobs having the patience to see your plans through
Acheiving consistency in sales jobs. Generating and keeping high levels of sales performance.
I would certainly say that I am an impatient person, like many in sales jobs I've met and worked with, I'm always hustling to try and do more, and indeed to try and find better ways of to improve my sales performance. Within this lies a potential cause of much loss of efficiency and indeed loss of results, as initiative and initiative is started but never really finished, leaving the sales person frantically jumping from onw strategy to the next and never really generating the results.
I have completed many psychometric tests indicating that I am a starter, not a finisher. Someone who likes to come up with fresh ideas, kick them off, but not perhaps so good at following them through. Broadly speaking, I have to agree. Although I would like to think I am a natural starter or ideas man, and a not such natural finisher, that is, I have to work hard at this bit, rather than I simply don't do it! I think this is a common scenario amongst people in sales jobs everywhere. It all fits with the stereo typical sales person who is always hungry for excitement and something new, and where others find stability in consistency, sales people may quickly become bored and look to seek new challenges.
The problem is, to get good results, you do need to follow ideas through beyond the initial buzz of creating and implementing new ideas, unless, or course, you're lucky enough to have staff to delegate these activities to.
The key here is to map out a clear plan correctly and thoroughly at the ideas stage whilst you full energy levels and attention to the task are at their peak, and then remain disciplined throughout the plan, referring back to it regularly to ensure you do not loose your way.
If the above scenario is a familiar picture, I would recommend creating clearly visible and detailed written plans for all the initiatives you formulate, then commit to yourself that you 'will' carry through all written plans. If you are able to follow this through my prediction is that you will generate better results off fewer initiatives, and feel less over worked in the process!
Good luck
