Northern based Car Dealership Announce New Sales Jobs
Northern based Car Dealership Benfield Motors have revealed plans to create up to three hundred jobs, many of which are set to be sales jobs.
This news comes at a great time for the industry, with market conditions currently being tough and expected to remain so in the near future.
The plans are to open around six new premises in locations ranging from the North East and Yorkshire, as well as adding to it’s existing range of models.
The managing director commented that the company is expecting to have a strong year in terms of growth. Nigel McMinn also added that the firms sales volumes and turnover margins should also grow as the company has not suffered from the credit crunch in ways that many companies have.
Each new premises is likely to employ around 50 people, meaning that many will be sales jobs which is a welcome lift after heavy job cuts have been made across the UK.
This news also comes on the back of a report published by information service Experian, showcasing that the North East had been hit hard by the nationwide slowdown in used car sales.
Overall the sales of used cars fell by 3% in the third quarter of 2007, but sales in that region had fallen by 13% compared to the same time period in the previous year.
The study said overall used car sales fell by 3% in the third quarter of 2007 compared to the previous year, while in the North sales fell by 13%.
Many believe that the increase in interest rates at that time had a lot to blame for a decline in sales in big items such as cars in that period. With the rates rising to 5.75%, many consumers had been feeling the squeeze.
